[Mintwood-place] Adams Morgan BID

FYI

Kristen Barden informed me by email this evening that she had withdrawn her
letter to the ABC board in support of Club Timerhi.

Her five-word response: "The letter has been withdrawn."

Clearly, Kristen Barden and/or certain BID board leaders finally recognized
that their lobbying for Club Timerhi, and against other Adams Morgan
businesses, did not comply with the law.

In the interest of openness, full disclosure and accountability, I am still
asking the BID to identify which board members, if any, approved the letter
in support of Timerhi to begin with and which board members, if any,
weighed in on the withdrawal of the letter.

If board members were involved, these decisions were likely taken in
meetings of the executive committee of the BID board or by the BID board en
mass. The board leaders, Constantine Stavropoulos and Steven Greenleigh,
have for years refused to abide by the laws which mandate that minutes be
kept for each such meeting. They apparently prefer to act behind the scenes
without membership review or accountability.

Did Kristen Barden act on her own or was she acting at the direction of BID
leaders? Who is accountable? Kristen or board members?

Did the BID make minutes of any executive committee meetings, as required
by law, and will they release those minutes, as required?

And will the BID explain to the membership this whole chain of events?

The leaders like to lead from the shadows and work behind the scenes, so it
looks like Kristen Barden must take the hit for this blunder.

Jim
