The Mintwood/Biltmore alley is scheduled to be treated by the Department of
Health on Friday, April 6. So far, residents at these addresses have
contacted me about being included in this treatment.

1851 Mintwood
1853 Mintwood
1859 Mintwood

1848 Biltmore

I will contact Gerard Brown on Monday, April 2 with the list of residents
who have agreed to let the city enter their property and will keep their
gates open and pets in the house.

A woman who lives on the Biltmore/Calvert alley sent me this information:

besides extermination, it's critical that you get your neighbors to clean
up their act, so that they don't provide food and shelter for the rats.
We distributed a paper flyer to everyone on our alley to try to make that
happen, see attached. For those who didn't get the message, it was a big
help to have DPW ticket property owners who chronically
left "uncontainerized solid waste" lying about. In our experience, you
need to have both DOH and DPW involved, because they have somewhat
different authorities. Some neighbors on our alley would email photos of
violations to the DPW inspector to alert her to problems, then she would
come and ticket. BTW, owners of commercial properties (4 or more
units), whose tenants are often the biggest offenders, are subject to
bigger fines.

The name of our current DPW inspector is Yolanda Hood. You can email her at
yoland.hood at dc.gov. It's my understanding that she likes to come for
inspections on Mondays and Thursdays, before the trash is collected.

If you know any of our neighbors, please ask them to email me and I will
add them to the list.
