At the State University of New York at New Paltz, where I got my M.A., I co-founded an anti-racist anti-capitalist feminist organization called Feminism Without Borders (see the old mission statement below) because my friends and I were dissatisfied with what we saw as a lack of race and class analysis within the other feminist organizations on that campus. I want to start another chapter of this organization here at UMD, as well. Last week, I went to the Feminist Activists of Maryland meeting and got a lot of support from the folks who attended that meeting for such an anti-racist anti-capitalist feminist organziation here. I also plan to build alliances with other organizations on and off campus. If you are interested in supporting this future revolutionary organization, please contact me. I'm especially looking to find core members for FWB because it needs at least five (or more) committed people--a diverse committed body of radical people--to make this it work. I look forward to hearing from some of you soon. Amy Washburn Mission Statement: Feminism Without Borders is an anti-racist anti-capitalist feminist organization aimed at educating students about the brutal realities of women's position, transnationally, under global capitalism through critical dialogues, grassroots organizing, and direct action against corporate globalization, colonization, welfare and environmental racism, the prison industrial complex, and sexual diseases and abuse, among other issues.
