Dear Coalition Members,

The Office of Management and Budget has recently finished its review of
the PREA standards. This means the DOJ's public comment period will
start very soon (as early as next week). As I mentioned in my email
earlier this week, we plan to have topic-based planning discussions
later this month instead of our general meeting. We will still do so,
and since we will likely have the public comment notice with the
proposed standards by then, these meetings will be even more important!

Again, the groups we have come up with are as follows:

*         LGBT

*         Victim Rights/ Service Providers

*         Faith-based

*         Youth

*         Public Health

*         Immigration

*         Oversight

We had initially proposed a cost-benefit group, but based on the
responses we have received so far, that topic will merge into the other
discussions rather than have its own free-standing discussion. In
addition, as a reminder, instead of a coalition-wide meeting, the
oversight working group will be meeting on January 12th at 3:00p.m EDT -
and anyone who wants to be part of that discussion is encouraged to join
and should let me know so that you are added to the email list.

If you have not already done so, please email me to let me know if you
would like to participate in any of these conversations and your
availability between Jan. 24 and Feb. 4.

Of course, we will keep you updated as soon as we receive the public
comment notice, and any other information.

Regards,

Nicole
