Ever thought about building a house out of strawbales, or tires, or cans or
bottles? Blue Rock Station has, and for one, two or three days over the
Labor Day weekend (from 9:30 to 4:00 each day) you can learn some of the
techniques necessary to build these unique structures. Or perhaps you would
rather see how to make retaining walls, pillars or garden features out of
“pre-cycled” materials such as strawbales, cord wood, bottles, cans and
tires.

Response to this event has been strong, but there are still a few spots
available. Enjoy a bit of hard work and chat with folks who are interested
in pursuing a sustainable lifestyle.

The workdays will include hands-on learning, so that you can experience for
yourself just how these things work. Each phase of construction will be
explained so you can adapt these techniques for your own projects at home.
Just bring along your own pair of gloves and you’ll be ready for a time of
learning and fun.

After a day of work, both Saturday and Sunday evening there will be an
old-fashioned wiener roast and an evening of playing games or sitting by the
fire. So bring along your friends or family members. Camping is available
as well as a number of local hotels or bed and breakfasts. Give us a call
for lodging information. Lunches and evening hotdogs will be provided.
There is no fee for this event, but donations for meals would be
appreciated.
