"... do unto future generations as you would have them do unto you."
(Robert Gillman, editor of In Context magazine).
Since the first Athens Area Sustainability Festival in 2001, the Susfest
committee has donated over $3,500 to charities that support the principles
of sustainability, both locally and globally. Susfest raises the money at
an annual grassroots community event that celebrates the many small
businesses, organizations, individuals and initiatives dedicated to building
community rooted in the principles of sustainability.
Susfest is asking for your help in identifying worthy charities. E-mail
your nominations to Bekki at healing at frognet.net
Join this year's Susfest celebration at the Athens County Fairgrounds on
October 8th (Saturday) and 9th (Sunday). Both days include great workshops
(32 sessions with topics ranging from "How to Build your own Solar Oven"...
"Protecting Yourself from the Toxins in Our Environment"... to "Building
with Straw Bales."), an exciting children's program (working with worms,
puppet shows, creative waste workshops, and much more), food, dance and
music... lots and lots of music.
For complete program information, information on exhibiting or to sign up as
a volunteer (you get free admission, free food and a nifty tee-shirt), check
out our web site at www.susfest.org
