Subject: [Seedgeeks] kohlrabi
Seedgeeks post: In the Eugene-Springfield neighborhood, we find Superschmeltz kohlrabi, aka Gigante, gets large and holds up well through the mid-winter, where Kongo goes south quickly. Kolibri also does well. Purple Vienna not as winter hardy, either. Any other intel on kohlrabi varieties? Am I right in assuming we are weak in kohlrabi diversity? Certainly not a crop people know what to do with. Anytime local farms sent out a CSA box with kohlrabi in it, they make sure to include a kohlrabi description/recipe with the accompanying newsletter. Some people cook it. Raw, sliced, it's delicious. Grated in salads, too.
