I. Optical Realities Photography / SOA Watch/NE Photo Exhibits…

1 - On the road again with musician Bruce Cockburn…
San Francisco - Sunday, Nov. 6
The Great American Music Hall
(415) 885-0750
http://www.musichallsf.com/

A photo exhibit by Linda Panetta encompassing images from Iraq, Afghanistan,
Haiti, Colombia, and many other Latin America countries will be on display at
the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco.

Many thanks for all the ongoing support and solidarity that Bruce Cockburn
has offered to School of the Americas Watch/NE and Optical Realities
Photography! The northeast tour / exhibits were a huge success. In addition to getting
the word out to hundreds of people, many photos were sold to support our
ongoing work; the tour also resulted in several upcoming exhibits and speaking
engagements.

Still not familiar with Bruce's music?... Although primarily a folk/rock
based singer/songwriter (whose band opened for Jimy Hendrix back in the day & his
songs have been covered by the likes of Jerry Garcia, Jimmy Buffet & the
Barenaked Ladies - to name a few), his music encompasses many other styles,
including jazz, blues, reggae, and more.

Cockburn has produced 28 albums - 20 gold and platinum records - and in 2002
he was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame by Gordon Lightfoot and
environmentalist David Suzuki.

Bruce has traveled to areas such as Cambodia, Mexico, Nicaragua, Iraq (in
2004 - visit www.opticalrealities.org for photos from this trip) and throughout
Africa in order to advocate for the environment, human rights, indigenous land
rights, and against the use of land mines. Check him out… buy a CD and/or
order the SOAW video - "An Insider Speaks Out!" - which concludes with Bruce's
hit song "The Whole Night Sky."

For more info about Bruce and his music visit: www.cockburnproject.net.

The Liberty Center for Survivors of Torture

Established October 2001, the Liberty Center for Survivors of Torture is
our region's central resource for the restoration of torture survivors'
health, happiness and hope, offering them linguistically, culturally and
therapeutically appropriate access to an array of medical, mental health, legal and
social services. The Liberty Center utilizes resources that place participants in
vocational training, volunteer activities, paid employment, and offers
participant's opportunities to regain their sense of self-worth, renew their ability
to enjoy life, demonstrate their talents, openly express their fears and
hopes, and face the future with confidence.

There are more than 5,000 survivors of torture currently living as our
neighbors in Pennsylvania and Delaware. Liberty Center participants have come
to the US for safe haven from over 40 countries-including Afghanistan, Albania,
Angola, Bosnia, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Colombia, Congo, El
Salvador, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Guinea, Haiti, Indonesia, Iran, Kenya,
Liberia, Mauritania, Nigeria, Pakistan, and the People's Republic of China, Peru,
Sierra Leone, Sudan, Togo and Uzbekistan.

Torture survivors constantly remind us of the frightening extent and
profound consequences of institutionalized violence, oppression, and genocide for
individuals, families, communities, and our world.

For more information about this event, contact Liberty Center Advisory
Board Members Lee Ann Sullivan (lksul at comcast.net or 484-433-0772) or Rosemary
Barbera (lapincoya at hotmail.com).

The Liberty Center is sponsored by Lutheran Children and Family Service of
Eastern PA.
