Dear List Members--Apparently, there was a symposium at Cornell on 10/28
called "Challenges of Energy in the 21st Century". One of the speakers was
John Deutch, former CIA director and now MIT professor. He says many of
the the things that some of us have been discussing, such as imposing a
high tariff on gasoline (making it $10/gallon) to "encourage"
conservation. I couldn't find a direct electronic link to the article,
"Growing U.S. awareness of its fragile petroleum supply is hopeful sign,
panelists agree", but if you download the Nov. 2 Cornell Chronicle at
http://www.news.cornell.edu/Chronicle/06/11_02_06.pdf, the are article is
on page 3. Enjoy. Tom
