[SustainableTompkins] newspaper needed for America Recycles Day Nov 4

A sustainability club - what a great idea! do you need a volunteer, or are there funds for hourly
wage? I'd love to do it, but I've used up my volunteer hours allotment ( I budget time for
wage-earning and giving-away; if I don't keep to it, the giving-away part overwhelms - because
that's usually what I love most! sorry)
If you need a volunteer, sending a call out on the Sustainable Tompkins listserv would probably
yield someone - if not, we could gather a small group to meet with you and brainstorm how to make it
happen. I'm big on young people taking charge, with support from resource folks.
However - what I originally wanted to talk with you about - besides just getting a sense of what
YOUR vision is for 4-H under your leadership - is engaging young people in building community
through the arts. Just now I'm focusing on dance - because National Dance Week in late Apri l (which
we're expanding to the full month this year) offers a frame for doing this, and we have a growing
community partnership network.
We'll be applying to the national Endowment for the Arts in March and August (different programs)
'07 to create a community partnerhsip model that other NDW groups across the country can learn from.
I'm very keen to include Cooperative Extension in the partnership. With Extension offices across the
country, it is a natural for other groups wanting to adapt our model for their own organizing.
Sorry about the mis-attachment; I'm trying again. The paper log thing at America Recycles Day
yesterday, at Pyramid mall, was fun.
All the best - Patricia
