[SustainableTompkins] pest control

For rats, mice, and many types of insects (cockroaches, ants, and other sweet-eaters), you might try mixing chocolate powder (Nestle's Quick) or powdered sugar with equal parts of dry cement powder. The cement hardens in their innards and is rather difficult to digest.

Borax is a good all-around INDOOR insecticide, and it makes a good fire retardant, too. Harmless for pets and humans in the quantities needed to control insects: just a light dusting of exposed surfaces, upholstery, etc.

But if you have something that attracts insects (like those trees), you're going to have an awful time getting rid of them.

I used an anti-growth hormone for cluster flies once; one dose worked for about three years. But that stuff *IS* dangerous. Use with extreme caution.
