Below is a description of an event happening tonight
This event is a perfect focus on the often overlooked part of
sustainability, social equity. Please consider attending and
see what people are doing in other countries and, perhaps, how we can
implement those same tactics in our own communities.

Justicia Global works for social transformation, calling people to open
their eyes to the injustice inherent in the current mode of social
organization, and to mobilize to transform relationships of oppression at
all levels. We work with young adults, students, families, and children
to build a culture of solidarity. We find it essential to create
international networks of cooperation. While our main location is in the
Dominican Republic, we have members throughout Latin America, the
United States, and Europe. Together we can work toward building a society
of respect for human rights, justice, solidarity, and peace.
Mariela Jáquez of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic is the coordinator of
the community component of the international organization, Justicia
Global(Global Juctice). She has experience working with womens groups and
in family and gender violence prevention. Mariela is a Masters student
in Gender and Development at el Instituto Technológico de Santo
Domingo(Intec). She works at Intecs Center for Gender Studies.
Tim Shenk of Goshen, Indiana, USA is also part of Justicia Globals
community organizing team, working primarily with groups of children and
rural farmers. As a 2006-07 Fulbright Scholar in the Dominican
Republic, he is studying and participating in economic development
through grassroots community projects. Tim graduated in 2004 from Earlham
College, Richmond, Indiana, with a degree in Spanish and Hispanic
Studies.
