Dear TC Sustainers:
Most of us are probably aware that a Starbucks exists in downtown Ithaca.
But I am not stopping with Starbucks in asking that dairy products from cows
treated with rBST/BHT be removed from their shelves. I am asking Moosewood
Restaurant menu planners and encourage you to talk to a manager at any
restaurant or coffee shop to stop using these products. My conversations
with Gimme folks is that they purchase Byrne Dairy products and that their
products are free of this hormone. Bovine growth hormone is on its death
throes. It's time to put it to rest and if Starbucks becomes a responsible
community member, it will also put the hormone back into the test tube for
safe disposal and end supporting its production and use..
Thanks,
Tony Del Plato

Despite its stated commitment to social responsibility, Starbucks has
still not done the right thing and switched to milk produced without
artificial growth hormones. Help us keep the pressure on Starbucks to make
the switch to better milk! To do so, we would love your participation in our
upcoming *Starbucks National Call-in Day on Tuesday December 5th. *
*How You Can Help:*
1. Make a phone call on National Call-in Day.
2. Circulate the announcement below to email lists, like-minded groups,
friends, family, or get it posted in a newsletter or blog.
3. Feature one of our fun web
banners<http://www.democracyinaction.org/dia/track.jsp?key=233906026&url_num=1&url=http://www.foodandwaterwatch.org/food/dairy/the-starbucks-campaign/webbanners/>on
your website or as an email tag.
4. Organize a Call-in Day Event. Your organization or a group of friends
could host a calling party to Starbucks. All you need is a phone! And it's
the perfect opportunity to educate about this hormone, and ways to get it
off the market.
*National Call-in Day!*
*Ask Starbucks to Hold the Hormones
*
On Tuesday, December 5th, tell Starbucks to buy better milk! Let Starbucks
know you object to its continued use of milk produced with artificial growth
hormones.
Call Starbucks at:
1 (800) 235-2883
Mon – Fri 5 AM – 6 PM (PST)
It should take just a few minutes of your time to let Starbucks know that
its decision to use rBGH milk is bad for cows and may be bad for people. By
making the call, you let Starbucks know that it's also bad for business. Be
sure to have your friends and family make the call too! Find out more at
www.holdthehormones.org<http://www.democracyinaction.org/dia/track.jsp?key=233906026&url_num=2&url=http://www.holdthehormones.org>
What to do if the line is busy:
Try again later or email info at starbucks.com
Let me know if and how you will participate and we will send you talking
points.
Thank you!
