 Take Action!
Join the PVC National Day of Action -- Oct. 11 at a Target Near You!
Join CHEJ and people across the country on Wednesday, October 11th and tell
Target it's time to clean up their act and phase out PVC, the "poison
plastic." Target may have the latest hip designs, but their aisles are
filled with products made from chemicals linked to cancer. They sell many
products such as shower curtains, children's toys, and baby products made
out of or packaged in polyvinyl chloride. PVC products are dangerous to our
health and the environment from start to finish--in the factory, at home,
and in the trash--releasing poisonous chemicals linked to cancer and birth
defects. The good news is safe and cost effective alternatives exist. Last
year, for instance, Wal-Mart committed to phasing out private label PVC
packaging within the next two years. Unfortunately, Target lags behind
other retailers in taking action on PVC.

Organize a Local Event As Part of the PVC Day of Action
Your October 11th event can be as small as just you and a friend handing out
flyers and holding placards or as large as scores of people demonstating
outside of a Target store. We'll send you a kit with everything you need to
put together a highly effective event. Participating is easy, fun, and most
importantly a great way to educate the public about what we can all do to
protect our families from dangerous chemicals in our homes. Contact Mike
Schade, CHEJ's PVC Campaign Coordinator at (212) 964-3680 or
mike at besafenet.com for more information on how you can get involved today.
