To all Ithaca-area not-for-profits:

The Ithaca Alternative Gift Fair is back! For the third year in a row, the
Fair offers holiday shoppers a choice of gifts to honor friends and family
while supporting charities and non-profit organizations in a festive atmosphere.

Each participating organization earns money by providing holiday shoppers
with meaningful alternatives to "more stuff" - alternatives like funding for
cancer support groups, humanitarian supplies, music programs for kids, and
safe, healthy day care. For each donation, the giver receives a holiday card with
a description of the organization and the gift. Gift prices start at $5 and
are tax deductible.

Last year, more than 20 not-for-profits participated in the Fair, and over
$14,000 was donated in just five hours. The fair is organized by an
all-volunteer team, and all funds collected at the event go directly to the
participating organizations.

The 2006 Ithaca Alternative Gift Fair will be held on Saturday, December 2,
from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parish hall of St. John's Episcopal Church, 210
North Cayuga Street.

Application forms must be filled out and returned by October 18. To receive
an application form, send an e-mail to Anke Wessels at akw7 at cornell.edu, or
visit the Fair website at ithacaaltgiftfair.org. For more information, call
Wendy Skinner at 277-7611.
