hi all,
our family is making attempts at being more sustainable in our daily
living, but many of our green habits began years ago and haven't really
done much to update. one thing we're struggling with is light bulbs. i
really dislike lights and, though we have a few fluorescent lights in the
house, i won't buy any more because they affect my mood. i hear both that
natural fluorescent is much better, but that it is still pretty horrible
light compared to incandescent. are there any other options?
the nyt linked to a site called ecomanor and they had a few suggestions
about steps people can take to be green every day, but i would love to hear
from others what kinds of things can be done on a daily basis. so far we
have:
insulated our house (& energy audit)
turned our heater down
cut back on some packaged items
recycled and buy used
thoughtful about appliances and turning lights off
canned vegs, fruits
oh yes, and we moved downtown and we walk all the time!
off the top of my head, we could turn our computer off when not in use
(does this really make a difference?), hang more laundry outside, buy more
local. what else?
thanks so much,
marlo
Listen to the MUSTN'TS, child,
Listen to the DON'TS
Listen to the SHOULDN'TS
The IMPOSSIBLES and WONT'S
Listen to the NEVER HAVES
Then listen close to me-
Anything can happen, child,
ANYTHING can be.
