Dear Friends,
The Sustainability Hub, together with all collaborating student
organizations at Cornell University, are very excited to announce that we
have organized a week-long series of events titled Focus the Nation Week
as part of the broader national initiative to intensify the discussion on
the theme "Stabilizing the Climate in the 21st Century." For a sample of
the events, see the attached flyer.
The idea of organizing an entire week full of activities that will raise
awareness about global warming came from a union of student groups working
to make the Cornell campus sustainable. Since the Sustainability Hub,
which serves as the central place for all student organizations working on
sustainability, was in charge of helping organize Campus Sustainability
Day, we thought that a good extension would be to link it to the 2nd
International Day of Climate Action (Nov. 2nd). We are very happy to be
collaborating so effectively with all student groups in making this
important week possible.
One key reason why we decided to organize an entire week of activities was
to give everybody on campus a chance to attend at least one conference,
demonstration, or activity. We would be glad to provide any details about
this effort or other efforts that students are leading on campus.
Please forward this message to any interested friends and groups. Feel
free to post the attached flyer where allowed. We hope to raise awareness
about global warming and its solutions on the Cornell campus and
elsewhere.
Sincerely Yours,
Carlos Rymer
