I wanted to spread the word to you about what should prove to be a really nteresting "mini-conference" this Friday
and Saturday (Sept. 8 & 9). Cornell has been working with an indigenous community in Vicos Peru for over 50 years. A close friend of CUSLAR's, Florencia Zapata, who is also a visiting scholar at Latin American
Studies, is very much connected to this work, and will be part of the presentation. People from Vicos will also be presenting.

Among the topics being discussed are integrated conservation, biodiversity
and participatory research. It's free and you are welcomed to attend any
part of it. It starts with an open house Friday at 2:00 and runs to 5:00pm on Saturday. The three (what sound like really amazing) panels take place Saturday at 9:00, 11:00 and 2:00 at A.D. White House

Lots more info can be found at

Anybody interested in indigenous rights, development, sustainability,
Peru, etc. could get something out of this. Could you please pass this
around to groups and people you know who are interested in those topics?

Many thanks!!

Laurie
