OCTOBER

*      Inter-American Meeting of Ministers and High-Level Authorities of
Sustainable Development
The Organization of American States will organize the "1st Inter-American
Meeting of Ministers and High-Level Authorities of Sustainable Development"
to take place from 5 - 6 October 2006 in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.
The participants will identify and advance concrete partnerships at the
regional and hemispheric level to integrate environmental considerations
into development, poverty alleviation, social and economic policies.

*       The Business Challenge Africa
The "11th International Business Forum 2006, Business and the Millennium
Development Goals: The Business Challenge Africa" will be held in Bonn,
Germany from 8 - 10 October 2006. Organized by InWEnt- Capacity Building
International, the World Bank Institute and the UN Global Compact, this
forum will gather leaders from business and business-driven organizations
that are engaged or interested in issues of global sustainable development.

   *      International Conference on Water, Ecosystems and Sustainable
Development in Arid and Semi-Arid Zones
Xinjiang University, China; University of Tehran, Iran; Ecole Pratique des
Hautes Etudes, France will organize an "International Conference on Water,
Ecosystems and Sustainable Development in Arid and Semi-Arid Zones" from 9 -
15 October 2006 in Urumqi, China. The conference is organized around four
major themes: Water and Environment, Agricultural Practices, Water and
Civilization, and Issues and perspectives for the future.

NOVEMBER

     *      Sustainability Measurement, Modelling and Evaluating Conference
The "1st International Conference on Sustainability Measurement and
Modelling - ICSMM 2006" is to be held in Terrassa, Spain, from 16 - 17
November 2006. The conference aims is to be the launch of an interacting and
open forum for organizations, institutions, and experts interested in
discussion, confrontation and networking on sustainable development
measurement, modelling and evaluation issues.

DECEMBER

 *       10th APEID International Conference
The Asia-Pacific Programme of Educational Innovation for Development (APEID)
will organize the 10th APEID International Conference "Learning Together for
Tomorrow: Education for Sustainable Development" in Bangkok, Thailand from 6
- 8 December 2006. This is to promote the United Nations Decade of Education
for Sustainable Development (DESD) from 2005-2014 and to strengthen UNESCO's
role as the lead agency for DESD in the Asia-Pacific Region.

JANUARY

   *      Sustainability Conference, 2007
The "Third International Conference on Environmental, Cultural, Economic and
Social Sustainability" will take place from 4 - 7 January 2007 at the
University of Madras, Chennai, India. The conference will be structured
around the four fundamentals of sustainability, viz. Environment, Culture,
Economy and Society.

      *      International Dialogue on Science and Practice in Sustainable
Development
The "Linking knowledge and action for sustainable production and consumption
systems" will take place during 23 - 27 January 2007 at Chiang Mai,
Thailand. The dialogue aims to foster effective collaborations between
scientists and practitioners to advance the practice of sustainable
development, through knowledge sharing and promoting national, regional, and
international actions and implementation.
