Tony's note: Is this for real? So, what's the worry???

*Spewing sulfur dioxide into atmosphere could slow warming, says
research*

Two quick inputs on the subject:

1. many of you may have seen the PBS special on Solar Dimming and the
fact that fine particulate emissions -diesel engines, power plant- are
reducing solar gain between 10-15% in some regions (maybe globally?)as
they seed and stabilize very fine water droplets that more effectively
reflect sunlight. Trade off between health costs and faster global
warming if we clean up the pollution.
2. I cant find the mag article, but a very serious, mathematically
supported model for solar dimming was proposed a few year's ago and
seems much more feasible than trying to get SO2 to high altitudes. The
idea is this: use a large fleet of computer controlled/piloted sailing
catamarans with solar cells to continuously criss cross the oceans and
generate salt aerosols from seawater- using high pressure pumps powered
by the solar collectors. The aerosols- like soot, but should be less of
a health/environmental problem?- seeds fine water aerosol clouds for
solar dimming.
