	I was exposed to ZERI concepts at an international conference 
on sustainable practices (ranging from permaculture to international 
industrial) in the Canary Islands in 1998.  It is an essential 
approach, especially when applied on a regional level.  At that time, 
Germany seemed to have most fully developed the approach, but a 
German brewery in Namibia was exporting the ideas (I believe they 
were feeding tilapia on brewery products).  The systems thinking can 
be on a small scale (family farm--see www.townsqr.com/snsaqua/) or as 
noted, an industrial scale.
	I hope some folks from around here can attend.  Perhaps we 
should invite people like Michael Stamm from the county development 
program. Using as many resources (AKA by-products) as possible 
locally has many benefits . . .
