Open House and Website to Select Top Scenic Views in Tompkins County
Do you have a favorite view that you’d like to see recognized on a list of
Distinctive and Noteworthy Views of Tompkins County? Do you tend to catch
your breath and say “Wow” when you see certain local views? Community members
will have an opportunity to vote for the best scenic views in Tompkins County
at an Open House on Wednesday, September 27 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Women
’s Community Building, 100 W. Seneca Street.
Tompkins County is preparing an inventory of important scenic resources
throughout the County. On Wednesday, the public is invited to cast ballots for
their favorite views among over 100 candidate views. At the Open House, the
public will have the opportunity to learn about the project in a leisurely and
unhurried setting, reviewing photos and maps showing the candidate views.
Results of the voting will provide critical input on which views are the most
highly valued by the community.
Until October 2, community members may also review the photos and maps and
cast their ballots on-line at _www.tompkins-
co.org/planning/ScenicResources.htm_ (http://www.planning.tompkins-co.org/scenicresources)
The results of the voting will be presented at a public meeting later this
fall. For further information contact the Planning Department at 274-5560 or
planning at tompkins-co.org.
