Global Environment & Youth Voice/Youth Vote 2008 Coordinator

Americans for Informed Democracy (AID) is looking for a dynamic,

Voice/Youth Vote 2008—our 2008 electoral initiative. AID works with
23,000 students on more than 1,000 campuses to raise awareness of
pressing global issues, present solutions from foreign policy
specialists, and give students and young professionals the tools to make
a difference on their campuses and in their communities. Now AID is
partnering with global experts to ensure that presidential candidates
across the political spectrum understand that there are solutions to
many of these issues and that young people want candidates to address
these issues. This is a tremendous opportunity to work with one of the
leading youth organizations in the country to ensure that global issues
are part of the next election-cycle and that young people’s voices are
heard in this cycle. F urthermore, through the environmental programming
you’ll work closely with dedicated individuals implementing changes on
their campuses and in their communities.

AID is hiring a Global Environment &Youth Voice/Youth Vote Coordinator
to work in a fast-paced, youth-led office to organize regional summits
to educate young people about some of these issues and solutions;
connect them with foreign policy experts, equip them with the ability to

their efforts to mobilize and hold candidates accountable on these issues.

     * Supporting 40+ campus events this spring (film screenings, panel
discussions, speaking tours, campaigns for changes, etc) with media
outreach, professor e-mail publicity blasts, and mailing films or other
supplies.
     * Organizing four Global Leader’s Summits on international issues
and the next president in New Mexico, Colorado, Ohio, and Florida in
August 2008.
     * Preparing a Youth Voter’s Guide on International Issues and
planning distribution and dissemination of the guide.
     * Developing and directing the production of a Youth Vote survey on
international issues, including distribution, dissemination of the
survey and more.
     * Participating in general office management and other programmatic
work as needed.

The right candidate should:

     * Demonstrate a commitment to and understanding of global issues

     * Be willing to work and travel some weekends
     * Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills
     * Familiarity with new technologies and user-generated content
     * Work well under pressure
     * Have a sense of humor
     * Conference organizing experience preferred
     * Ability to multi-task

This is a full-time, paid position. AID offers a competitive
compensation and benefits package including health, dental, vision, and
life insurance policies, a great deal of flexibility, a generous
comp-time and leave policy, and a friendly, committed, team of
experienced youth advocates. Salary range for this position is
$26,500-$30,000.
