It's about 27 miles and 44 minutes from Ithaca.

Unfortunately it's exactly the same day/time as the GIAC block party and the same weekend as the Permafrost workshops.

On July 7, "Live Earth" concerts will take place all over the world to raise awareness about global warming. The Newark Valley Historical Society is holding a FREE event beginning at 4 PM on July 7 featuring live music and speakers from Cornell University.

Music will be provided by "Tom & Marie," "Hope & Jim," and "Phil Shapiro and Carrie Shore...the American Folk Tradition."

The Historical Society's event is not associated with the people involved in the Live Earth Concerts. NVHS is not collecting donations for the cause. The day's goal is to raise local awareness of a global situation. Food will be available at the Depot. Bring a lawn chair if the weather is nice.   For further information call Marcia Kiechle at (607) 642-8967.
