GREEN REMODELING SEMINAR
Ithaca – The Green Resource Hub of the Finger Lakes and Cornell
Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County will co-host "Green
Remodeling: Kitchens and Baths" on Wed., May 30 from 7-9 p.m. in the
Boynton Middle School cafeteria, 1601 N. Cayuga St., Ithaca. This
introductory overview will provide information about functional,
health-promoting and environmentally preferable options for flooring,
cabinetry, countertops and finishes in kitchens and bathrooms.
Darien Simon of Class Act Kitchen and Bath Design Center will provide
an overview of environmental and health considerations in remodeling
decisions and present flooring, cabinetry, countertop, and backsplash
options. Diane Cohen of Significant Elements Architectural Warehouse
will discuss what to do with tear outs and creative ways to
incorporate used materials in remodeling projects. Chris Myers of
Ithaca Paint and Decorating will review environmental and performance
attributes of different finishes for kitchen and bathroom
applications. Some sample materials will be on hand for browsing. The
program is free and pre-registration is requested at 607-272-2292.
The Green Resource Hub of the Finger Lakes is a non-profit
organization that aims to expand the marketplace for sustainable
living through consumer education, workforce training, and
professional development. The Hub provides education, training, and
networking opportunities in green building, energy efficiency,
renewable energy, green purchasing, and other strategies essential to
creating more sustainable communities.
