 Hey everyone, this is an important event coming up, I hope you can make it.

For those in Hub or Kyoto who think it's not related to what you do,
please read this and maybe it will convince you otherwise.

We talked a lot at Powershift about building coalitions and reaching out
to groups who share our interest in social justice but not our
environmental focus.  Labor especially is a crucial component of this (for
more information, look into Van Jones or the Apollo Aliance), as any
attempt to regulate CO2 will necessarily affect labor through higher gas
and heating prices as well as through innevitable and necessary changes in
the labor market.  Labor is a powerful force in this country and we need
to make sure the hard working men and women who make our country run are
our allies not our enemy.

Building a coalition requires more then words, it requires supporting our
allies when they need help.  I've been working at getting the Workers'
Center more involved in sustainability issues, and I think it would be
great if we could show them our support on all issues of sustainability,
including sustainable wages and labor practices.  I admit the connection
isn't obvious, so if you have questions about it, I'd definitely want to
discuss it with you.
