Reuse sale for people who sew

SewGreen, a new collective that encourages creative reuse of fabric, fiber, and fashion, is holding a sewing reuse rummage sale for people who sew, knit, or do needlecrafts. The sale will take place 11 am to 3 pm, Saturday, October 20 at the First Unitarian church annex, located in the 200 block of West Buffalo Street, Ithaca. Ready-to-use fabric of all types and sizes, from quilting squares to bolts, as well as yarn, needlecraft supplies, and used sewing machines will be offered. The sale also features a free t-shirt reuse workshop at noon, demonstrations of a treadle sewing machine, and an exhibit of earth-friendly fabrics and yarns. The proceeds will support community sewing classes and refashioning workshops.

Donations to the sale will be accepted at Tompkins County Cooperative Extension, 615 Willow Avenue, 4 to 7 pm, Wednesday, October 10, or by appointment. Donated fabric must be clean and folded. Volunteers, including students who need community service credit, are invited to help at the sale. Contact Wendy Skinner, ws at twcny.rr.com, 277-7611.
