Hello friends,
Please spread the word...
This campaign has the potential to help towns like Ithaca transform
issues of racism and ecological destruction into REAL SOLUTIONS THAT
WORK FOR EVERYBODY...

I am happy to announce that the most-read U.S. columnist in the world,
Tom Friedman, wrote a profile this week of Van Jones. The piece features
the Ella Baker Center, the Oakland Apollo Alliance and our new "Green
For All" initiative, a national campaign for green-collar jobs.

Green For All is working to lift 250,000 low-income people above the
poverty line and into the emerging green economy. We are working to get
the federal government to invest $1 billion into green-collar workforce
development, employer incentives and entrepreneurial training. More than
100 green business leaders and social justice organizations already have
endorsed our call — including Majora Carter, eco-heroine and leader of
Sustainable South Bronx. The effort counts 1Sky, Color of Change,
National Apollo Alliance and the Center for American Progress among its
closest strategic partners.
They are not alone. Our campaign to get green-collar jobs to the
neediest Americans has already won praise and backing from the likes of
U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, U.S Rep. Hilda Solis and U.S. Rep. John
Tierney. We also enjoy the admiration and support of U.S. Senators
Hillary Rodham Clinton, John Edwards, John Kerry, Barack Obama, and
Bernie Sanders — not to mention former U.S. President Bill Clinton. So
with both grassroots and elite help, we have a real shot at meeting our
goals in the months and years to come.
Toward that end, we are pleased to note Green For All has received a $1
million challenge grant.
That means that every dollar you give — up to a total of $1 million —
will be doubled. We have to raise the full $1 million to get the second
"matching" million. So now is a great time to support our national
initiative. And every penny counts — double!
For more details, please visit our website — GreenForAll.org. And let us
publicly thank Mr. Friedman for shining a spotlight on our commitment to
build a green economy strong enough to lift people out of poverty.
Sincerely,
Ian Kim
