Dear Friends--Maiken Winter just forwarded me this interesting 
article.  It's sort of an advert for an innovative English reusable bag 
company, but I noted the following quote with interest:  "The launch comes 
as London considers a tax or even a complete ban on disposable plastic bags 
in the capital."  So with Ithaca and Tompkins County in the not too distant
