I signed the petition to save Coddington Rd from widening (http://www.savecoddington.org/), and was looking for the study that I read a while back showing that the faster the speed limit on your road, the less neighbors that you knew. I couldn't find that study (anyone?), but I found a cool site about  Tradition Neighborhood Design: http://shn-engr.com/features/com_nbrhd.html

Common sense, really, but nice to see it written up and being put into practice.
