I'm sorry that this exhibit will not still be up at the end of April - so that folks in town for the green art symposium could see it!

For those who have not yet heard of this Earth Week event, I attach an invitation with brief details. We'll have some of the nation's top 'green' art voices with us, joining local artists to explore what 'green' art is, and what role it might play in the sustainability movement. An Open Space invites everyone to share their own visions, and to collectively generate action plans for local/regional (NYS) and global next steps.

The global dimension relates to ARTS AT THE HEART OF A SUSTAINABLE WORLD, an initiative inspired by the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development, the UN Millenium Goals and the International Earth Charter. The April event will lay groundwork for this longer-term initiative's objectives, timelines and activities - leading up to an international gathering in NYC in March '09.

The Handwerker Gallery at Ithaca College announces the opening of a
special exhibit of some of the works of photographic artists Chris
Jordan, whose series "Running the Numbers: An American Self-Portrait"
looks at contemporary American culture through the austere lens of
statistics.
Each image portrays a specific quantity of something; for instance,
"Cell Phones" depicts 426,000 cell phones, the number of cell phones
retired in the United States daily.
