Dear Friends--I thought this might be of interest to those interested in
alternative biofuels--meaning not made from corn or other food
crops. Please see the links below. Have a wonderful weekend! Tom
P.S.: Does switchgrass grow in our area? Is anyone locally (Cayuga Basin)
trying to grow switchgrass? Any Cornell folks on the list that might know
of local options?

A study published on Monday by the Proceedings of the National Academy
of Sciences (PNAS) found that switchgrass contains five times more
energy than it takes to grow it, which makes it significantly more
cost-effective than corn.

MY NOTE: Sustainable development does not mean "sustainable growth" as
growth per se is not sustainable. And the term "sustainable" has to mean
"for a very long time" (A. Bartlett).
