Ecofarm for Kids and Adults

Join us this Saturday and Sunday @ 2247 Mecklenburg
Rd. (Rt. 79 1/2 mile west of the blinking light in
Enfield on the left after the bridge.  Slow down and
put on your blinker when you see the big red barn) 
This will be the first installment of a year long
series following the farmer’s year.  Since it is
almost sap season, we will be walking in the 12 acre
maple woods also known as a sugar bush.  We will be
doing winter tree ID and getting familiar with the
woods and discussing the maple sugaring process.  Our
hands on element will involve cutting small standing
dead wood for this years boiling and selective pruning
of live trees.
This program is for kids and families as well as
single adults.  Please wear appropriate clothing for
the weather, waterproof boots and bring work gloves. 
Also bring cameras and plant ID books if you would
like.  We will meet in the driveway at 12 noon both
days.  

Joshua Dolan has been active in permaculture projects
here in Ithaca for the last 4 1/2 years and has a
permaculture consultancy business.  Josh has been
involved in the Ithaca Community Garden, the Peoples
Garden Project and the Finger Lakes Permaculture
Institute.  This is the beginning of his first year on
the farm and he is excited to share in the fun with
the community
