Clean Money, Clean Elections

Mary Clark of Citizen Action New York will be here to update us about Clean Money / Clean Elections -- CANY's campaign to get big money out of politics.

?

One way that the corporations dominate American democracy is through making politicians dependent on their campaign donations -- money buys votes and money buys access to the politician's ear. Because of the absolute dependence on money, we now have something more akin to auctions than elections.

?

Citizen Action New York's effort to get money out of elections offers one important means to make politicians more dependent on, and more accountable to voters. New York has a real chance at enacting this important reform. Governor Spitzer is in favor, but your help is needed to help push the legislator's -- especially the State Senate.

?

Come out and learn how Clean Money / Clean Elections works, and how you can help push for publicly-funded elections in New York State.
