  So far the discussion about on-demand hot water heaters has 
considered only two scenarios where there might be a long run from 
existing water supply/utility areas to demand sites in the home--a 
central whole house system, or a multi-point installation of heater 
at the various points of use in the home.

  Howzabout a middle way scenario in a dwelling with say a basement, 
1st floor & second floor (or more): installing a single on-demand 
heater in a location somewhere kinda equidistant from the various 
points of use (maybe on the first floor) to eliminate an overly long 
run and wait time to any particular use location?
