The Holzbaur's farm on Rt. 79 in Enfield, NY is the
site
of my new permaculture farm. As part of our first
phase of operation, we are building an entire maple
syrup system from the ground up. The
schedule for February is as follows:
Sunday, Feb. 3 - Wood collection; cut, drag, stack and
tarp standing and fallen dead wood for boiling. Good
opportunity to work on tree identification and learn a
bit about sustainable forestry.
Feb4 - Feb15 - Various worktrade and learning
opportunities available. Contact me @
rainbowwarrior14874 at yahoo
Saturday, Feb16 - Feb21 Sugar Shack construction.
Basic natural building, carpentry, roofing, etc.
Thursday, Feb21 - Set up the evaporator and sap
storage tanks. Basic overview of boiling process
Saturday and Sunday, Feb23 & 24 - Ecofarm Class; Set
up sap lines and tap trees
Participants will be entitled to a portion of maple
syrup based on how much we end up producing and how
much time you put in. Please note that we are looking
for someone to either loan their truck on an
occasional basis or to help haul various loads.
Please contact me at 280-8498 or at
rainbowwarrior14874 at yahoo if you have any questions or
would like to carpool out for a workday. Let me know
if you would like to get on our "farm friends" list
for further updates.
The Holzbaur's farm is halfway between Enfield Center
Rd. and Rothermitch Rd. on Rt. 79 in Enfield. After
the blinking light, look for the big red barn on the
left. The driveway is hidden, so watch out!
