Hi everyone,

Thanks for the wrap up of the discussion Ryan, it's great to see what's
been discussed in one place.

The NY State Food Policy Council has targeted regional food processing
facilities as an important part of food self-sufficiency in the state. I
attended and testified (as a representative of NWAEG at Cornell) at the
Binghamton listening session this spring and most of the groups testifying
mentioned regional food processing as a top priority. The executive
director of the Food Bank Association of NY State, John Evers, expressed a
strong personal commitment to making this happen and talked about creating
a pilot food processing facility in conjunction with one of the main food
banks in the state.

I'm mentioning this because there is a possibility of logistical and/or
financial support from the state if Ithaca's initiative can be pitched as
part of this larger state-wide project.
