Dear LSB colleagues,
I am writing this now because our LSB program is
supposed to go on air on thursday otherwise, I would
waite for resolution of the matter under discussion.
After spending three committee meetings on developing
an LSB program fairly and equitably, now an appointed
election supervisor, Angela Loris(sp ?), has come
forward and says that our 12 board members whom we
have selected to be on the program may not do so.
I have not seen the paragraph from the election rules
where it gives us the date that formal elections start
and candidates may not be on air.
Nomination process has just started. I have called Ms.
Loria and left her a message to call me so that we can
clarify the issue.
We want to play by the rules, but there is no reason
to cut communication between the elected board members
and the listeners 5 months befor their term ends. Our
LSB program is in August. our term ends at the end of
Dec. 12 members, that is half of the lsb can not talk
on their own LSB program for 5 months out of their 7
months term?
I want all of you be informed of this. If the written
election rule does not exclude anyone strictly
frombeing on the AIr , I absolutely oppose cutting our
hard working members from talking to their
constituents.
In fact, if that were true, what happens to our LSB
members who are programers?
What if someondne wants to interview one of us on a
topic we are expert on?
We are not going t talk about elections. THIS IS NOT
AN ELECTION PRONOTION PROGRAM. It is an LSB program.
Ms. Lauria wants to be on the program to talk about
elections and we ae giving her time. If her presence
makes this about election, then we can remove her and
have her some other time on some other program. Ron
Pinchback can arrane that.
Irespectfully submitted,
Simin royanian
I wrote the EM that is hereby attached after our last
meeting where the names were drawn and asked the 6 LSB
members whose name is on the August program to contact
Rob robinson, Dan Logan and I to RSVP. If not we have
ta call someone from the next 6 or further down the
line.
Now that there is only one day left, PLEASE those of
the 12 who can be on the program let us know.
We will go down the list and pick the first 6 names
accordinng to the drawing and who is available.
IN this first program, we will exceptionally have the
chair of the LSB, Mr. Jim Brown on the program for 10
minutes as well.
Hhere is the proposed format for this first program:(
developed by rob robinson, Dan Logan, with comments
from myself and Jim Brown).
Signature theme music ( Dan has several CD's,
off the cuff I like Quincy Jones Big Band playing
Stockholm Sweetnin' -- very mellow)
5 min. - Rob introduces the show - an introduction to
what the LSB is, and who the guests will be
10 min. - interview of Jim, who wants to talk about
the goals and objectives of the LSB,its
accomplishments (including the GM announcement and
bringing the PNB meeting here-- he'll give specifics
on both), and the challenges we face. He'll mention
the regular meetings, including the upcoming one.
5 min. - Angela Lauria talks announces the upcoming
election
36 min. - the 6 LSB members talk about the projects
they're involved in for 6 min. each (no speeches or
election advocacy)
20 min. - call-ins comments or questions by listeners.
If a Q is addressed to a specific LSB member, that
person answers, otherwise others may take turn
answering questions addressed to all. (preferably by
the same order of their appearance so that it is
equitable)
Since this time is for the listeners, if a q is raised
the members should answer in 1 or 2 minutes.
Reprise of opening theme.
