[Wpfw-lsb] call for second finance committee meeting

dear finance committee:

i see that we apparently have very different views about the work of the wpfw finance committee.  i could not agree with rob robinson lately about a proposed agenda for a second meeting of our committee.  i think that what he proposes for our agenda appears too ambitious for a two-hour meeting of the committee.  to be sure, we disagreed substantially about one or two matters.

also, i see that no one responded to my call for a second committee meeting.  likewise, no one besides warren responded to rob robinson's call for a second meeting.  i have telephoned ambrose, mark roberts, and tom fulcher, but have not been able to reach them (and i do not have warren's telephone number to call him).  i reached rob but could not as i said agree on an agenda.  i spoke with luzette earlier, but we spoke in the main about another subject.  at the end of the day, some of us clearly disagree about what should be the direction of our committee's work.  others may well be very busy and choose not to respond to calls for a second meeting until we get ourselves organized.

however, i ask that all seven of us show patience with each other.  we need to meet so that we can perform the finance committee's obligations to the local station board and to wpfw.  some of us may well disagree, but, at the end of the day, we need to work together and perhaps compromise.  otherwise, we will doom our work in a fashion reminiscent of that of the former local advisory board.

with that said, i do not see a consensus for our meeting tomorrow, on monday, may 24, at 6:30 p.m.  nor do i see a consensus for us to meet at any definite time in the future.  yet, we need to meet so that we can at the least elect our committee leadership who would then be able to call a meeting.  as the chairperson pro tem, tom fulcher, you have an obligation to call a meeting so that we can continue our work.  if tom fulcher refuses to call the meeting, the rest of us have an obligation to organize a meeting on an immediate basis.  also, the entire committee must recognize our obligation as a committee to do our work.  whether we agree about an agenda or about the committee's purpose, we need to meet and work out our disagreements.  we undermine the station by filibustering with our silence or with a stubborn refusal to deal with others who do not agree with us on an individual basis.

hence, as one of the three committee members who missed the first finance committee meeting, i ask again that we meet this week so that we can continue our work.  i also ask that ron pinchback and robert west join us in our meeting.  we have so much to do and no time whatever for the luxury of gridlock.
