Ray,

Thank you very much but I think WPFW is just one aspect
of mobilising doe political action. What is the plan
of action presented to WPFW?

We should take a leaf out of Billy Ray's book. Billy
Ray had an issue about the threat of independent taxi
drivers losing their livelihoods and he got moving. He
formulated a plan of action and only used the airwaves
of WPFW to mobilize the taxi drivers for a DC Council
hearing. I think WPFW did a very good job and such was
the response there was not enough seats to accomodate
the taxi drivers in the hall: over 250 turned up.

This e-mail should have been informing us about a plan
of action for an event in the community to discuss how
best to deal with this matter. I thought it
instructive to include this website which in some ways
describe the system with which I am most accustomed.
This racist man, Kilroy, was removed instantly from the
BBC after his racist remarks.

So rather than taking pot shots at WPFW use it as a
means to mobilise the community. I anxiously await
information on what is being done in the community to
deal with MSNBC and their racists workers.

PALESTINIANS CALLED ‘FILTHY ANIMALS’ ON MSNBC’S
‘IMUS’Muslims urged to demand apology for hate-filled
remarks

Imus’ November 12th program in which he and his
on-aircolleagues engaged in the following discussion
about live coverage
  ofPalestinian President Yasser Arafat’s funeral:DON
IMUS: They’re
(the Palestinians) eating dirt and that fat pig wife
of his isliving in
  Paris.COLLEAGUE: They’re all brainwashed, though.
That’s what it is.
And they’restupid, to begin with, but they’re
brainwashed now. Stinking
animals. They oughtto drop the bomb right there, kill
‘em all right
  now
IMUS: Well, the problem is we have (reporter)
Andrea (Mitchell)
there; we don’twant anything to happen to
her.COLLEAGUE: Oh, she’s
got to get out. Andrea, get out and then drop the
bomb andkill
  everybody
COLLEAGUE: Look at this. Animals. Animals!
AMJ joined CAIR today in demanding an apology from
  MSNBC.(WASHINGTON, D.C., 11/18/04) – CAIR today
called on American
Muslims and otherpeople of conscience to contact the
MSNBC cable
television network to demand anapology for comments
made on its “Imus in
the Morning” program that referred toPalestinians as
“filthy animals” and
suggested that they all be killed. The Council on
American-Islamic
Relations also asked that the program’s host,Don
Imus, be reprimanded for
  failing to challenge his colleagues’
inflammatoryremarks.
In a letter to MSNBC President Neal Shapiro, CAIR
stated: “We
are firmdefenders of the First Amendment, but these
hate-filled and racist
remarks canonly serve to legitimize anti-Muslim and
anti-Arab bigotry in
our society andcould lead to further discrimination
against members of the
  Islamic andArab-American communities.” (CAIR also
filed a complaint with
the FCC because“Imus in the Morning” is a
nationally-syndicated radio
program.)This is not the first time Imus has been
involved in a
  controversy overanti-Arab and Islamophobic remarks.
As early as 1985, he
was forced to apologizefor referring to Arabs as
“goat-humping weasels.”
(Sunday Mail, 4/21/85) He hasalso been criticized for
using the derogatory
term “raghead.” (Accuracy inMedia) In a reference to
the crash of an
Iranian airliner earlier this year thatkilled 43
passengers, Imus said,
“When I hear stories like that, I think whocares.” He
then stated: “Too
bad it wasn't full of Saudi Arabians.”
(NationalIranian American
Council)Earlier this year, CAIR announced a campaign
designed to
counter hate speech ontalk radio. The campaign,
called “Hate Hurts
America,” is based on the premisethat the increasing
attacks on Islam by
talk show hosts harm the United Statesby creating a
downward spiral of
interfaith mistrust and hostility. As part ofthat
campaign, Muslims were
given step-by-step instructions on how to
monitorlocal and syndicated
radio programs, report anti-Muslim hate, file
FCCcomplaints, and contact
  advertisers to register their concerns.SEE:
